Woodco Delivers Renewable Heating to Camphill Community Sites

Woodco Renewable Energy have delivered renewable biomass heating systems at several Camphill Communities.

We have installed biomass heating systems in Camphill Grangemockler (250kW) Camphill Jerpoint (150kW) and Camphill Kyle (250kW).

About Camphill Communities

Camphill Communities of Ireland is part of an international movement working with people with intellectual disabilities and other kinds of special needs.

Camphill is a way of life, where the residents share their homes and where each person according to their ability, contributes what they can towards the well-being of others.

Camphill has established centres that cater to a variety of different needs. Many of the people providing support to those with disabilities are volunteers.

Camphill Communities have a large requirement for heating. They contacted Woodco, seeking a renewable heating alternative.

🚀 From Concept to Reality

The Camphill Communities recognised the need to decarbonise their energy use. Given their high heat demand and the characteristics of their buildings—many of which are older and rely on district heating schemes—biomass emerged as the most suitable solution. Camphill chose an ESCO (Energy Supply Contract) model, which allowed them to install a biomass heating system without any upfront capital investment.

Camphill Kyle was the first site to transition from fossil fuel heating to a biomass system. This was followed later that year by Camphill Jerpoint, and more recently, Camphill Grangemockler was commissioned.

Camphill Kyle, Jerpoint and Grangemockler sites all opted for an ESCO agreement.

What is an Energy Supply Contract (ESCO)?

Woodco can install your biomass heating system with no capital investment and provide you with an annual saving on your heating overheads – typically 20-30%. This is called an ESCO Solution.

ESCO solutions are perfect for businesses looking to decarbonise their energy without any initial capital costs.

Woodco Manage:

The design and installation of the system.
Two individuals shaking hands or signing a document to finalize a business deal or agreement, symbolizing partnership and mutual agreement
Support Scheme for Renewable Heat (SSRH) application.
bag of money symbolising a grant payment
Full boiler installation, commissioning the system, and project sign off.
Biomass engineer inspecting and maintaining a biomass boiler system, ensuring efficient operation and optimal performance of renewable energy equipment
And maintain the system on an ongoing basis (typically 15 years).
Fleet of service vehicles equipped for biomass system maintenance, including delivery trucks for fuel and specialized vans for servicing biomass boilers and heating systems

ESCO benefits include:

  • Fuel delivery and maintenance of the biomass system.
  • Reduction in heating costs.
  • Highly Efficient (>93%) heating system.
  • Carbon Reduction for your business.
  • Full ownership of the biomass system upon completion of the ESCO contract.
